AnnotationThe chapter 4 represents the introduction to perspective crops for biorefining (Miscanthus, Poplar, Helianthus, Echinacea, Leuzea, etc.) . We stress the development of advanced cultivation strategies to enhance crop yield and the need to reuse waste materials as they represent a source of valuable compounds. The book covers broad research aspects of chemical processing of biomass to high-value products and alternate energy sources. The research has been realized in the project Biorefinery Research Centre of Competence (BIORAF, TE 01020080) supported by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic for the period 2012-2019.
