AnnotationPurses, pouches, bags and other containers to carry things, especially medieval ones, are a rather specific and narrow case for very specialized material culture studies. From the archaeological point of view those objects seem to be one of the least studied category of leather artefacts. In this text I focus on one unique example. All data and indirect analogies indicate that the object in question is a home made product, created for own needs. Given early dating of this specimen, especially in relation to preserved museum exhibits and most specimens known from iconography sources, it is worth to consider, whether this object with a wooden frame is a rare imitation of more luxurious, often gold products, or it was a common, utilitarian object that is just sporadically recorded among archaeological (and written) sources.
