Umění jeho doby v českých zemích představuje přitom vrchol ve výtvarné kvalitě i spektru námětů a nových, zcela netradičních přístupů. Některé z nich byly následovány soudobou evropskou tvorbou, mnohé ale předešly svou dobu a zůstaly nepochopeny. Nejen k nim má výstava přitáhnout pozornost. Description in English The exhibition followed on from the grant project “Imago, Imagines: Works of Art and Metamorphoses of Their Function in the Medieval Bohemian Lands”, which was completed at the end of 2017, and the output of which is a book published by the Academia publishing house. The aim of the exhibition and its accompanying events was to provide the wider public with a different view of the time of Wenceslas IV, who was regarded by contemporary sources in the Holy Roman Empire, and still today by some historians, as an incompetent ruler However, the art of his time in the Czech lands represents a high point in terms of artistic quality and the range of themes and completely new non-traditional approaches. The exhibition was an occasion for revising the one-sided view of this king and the society throught the testimony of art.
