Úvodní detailní studie Evy Stehlíkové a Jakuba Čechvaly představují profesní dráhu Vysokého a zasazují jeho kritické postupy do kontextu textové tradice a textové kritiky. Druhá část knihy přináší nově zeditovanou sbírku Vysokého překladů Euripidových fragmentárních tragédií nebo jejich vybraných částí (Hypsipylé, Alexandros, Stheneboia, Bellerofón, Peirithoos, Erechtheus, Kréťané, Kresfontés) a dvě Vysokého studie zabývající se rekonstrukcí Euripidových her Moudrá Melanippé, Uvězněná Melanippé a Antiopé. Poslední dvě části knihy obsahují excerpce z Vysokého stuií k Aischylovi a překlad různých knižních fragmentů Aischyla, Sofoklea, Euripida a jeden knižní fragment Chairemóna.
Description in EnglishThe book introduces a work of Zdeněk K. Vysoký (1903–1979), a Czech classicist whose career did not develop in the way that would correspond to his versatile talent due to political reasons. Moreover, the book aims to acquaint the Czech public with the Greek fragmentary tragedies, which Vysoký translated in the early 1960s. Detailed introductory chapters by Eva Stehlíková and Jakub Čechvala trace the professional career of Vysoký and set the critical approaches of Vysoký in wider context of textual tradition and textual criticism. The second part of the book offers a newly edited collection of Vysoký’ translations of Euripides’ fragmentary plays or their selected parts (Hypsipyle, Alexandros, Stheneboea, Bellerophon, Pirithous, Erechtheus, Cretans, Cresphontes) and of two of Vysoký’s studies that deal with the reconstruction of Euripides’ plays Wise Melanippe, Captive Melanippe, and Antiope. The last two sections of the book contain excerpts from Vysoký’s Aeschylean studies and translations of various book-fragments of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides and one book-fragment of Chaeremon.
