AnnotationThis work describes the main features of similarities and differences between two researches in field electron emission. The emitter structure consists of a metallic core, that is usually tungsten covered by thin layers of various dielectric materials (Epoxylite resins). The researches that are compared are in particular: Hot Electron Emission from Composite Insulator Micro-point Cathodes [1] and the Methods of Preparation and Characterization of Experimental Field Emission Cathodes [2]. This comparison includes: methods of preparing cathodes, characterization of prepared field emitter, characteristics of current voltage (I-V) plots, characteristics of Fowler-Nordheim plots, initial switch-on phenomena, the emission patterns and the energy distribution of electrons.
