Víta v 19. století po postupné ztrátě historické vazby mezi chrámem a panovnickým rodem Habsburků. Nedostatek zájmu ze strany panovníka vedl k oslabení prestiže tohoto stavitelského úkolu, jenž byl pohřebním a korunovačním kostelem českých králů. Počínaje kresbami architekta K. F. Schinkela z roku 1803 a první doloženou neogotickou rekonstrukci roku 1822 se naopak obnovuje zájem umělců a architektů o pochopení torzálně zachovaného díla. Nová institucionální podpora umožnila v letech 1867–1928 vznik projektů J. Krannera, prosazení nové koncepce J. Mockerem i odvážný krok K. Hilberta vedoucí k propojení staré a nové části interiéru. Description in English The text deals with the building history of the Prague Cathedral St Vitus in the 19th century after the gradual loss of historical ties between the church and the royal family of Habsburg. The lack of interest on the part of the ruler weakened the prestige of this architectural task, which was the burial and coronation church of Czech kings. On the contrary, from the drawings of architect K. F. Schinkel (1803) and the first Neo-Gothic reconstruction (1822), the interest of artists and architects in understanding the Gothic torso is renewed. New institutional support allowed the creation of designs by J. Kranner and J. Mocker. Finally, K. Hilbert did the courageous step to linking the old and the new interior in 1929.
