AnnotationSeveral Strongyloides species in the intestine of non-human primates, two species have been recorded from apes and can be shared with humans. S. fuelleborni is common in free-ranging and sanctuary apes, S. stercoralis is less common. There are no reports about the clinical outcomes of Strongyloides infections in wild apes, however, there are reports describing fatal autoinfective cases in captive great apes, especially in young or sick individuals.
