Annotation
Široká důvěra v meritokratické ideály, dle nichž postavení jedinců odráží jejich talent a píli, napomáhá ospravedlňovat přetrvávající nerovnosti a zneviditelňovat jejich strukturální kořeny. Meritokratické argumenty bývají také často mobilizovány v případě rezistencí vůči opatřením zaměřeným na podporu genderové rovnosti ve vědeckých institucích. Cílem workshopu bylo diskutovat vybraná úskalí meritokratického hlediska a účinné způsoby protiargumentace.

A widespread belief in meritocratic ideals according to which one´s position and success are determined predominantly by talent and efforts helps to legitimize societal inequalities and invisibilize their structural roots. Meritocratic ideals are often mobilized in resistances against gender equality measures implemented by research or higher education institutions. The aim of the workshop was to discuss common pitfalls related to meritocratic arguments and provide effective counter-arguments.
