AnnotationRecently, algae and cyanobacteria are ubiquitous in surface water bodies that supply drinking water treatment plants. Subsequently, dissolved algal organic matter (AOM) is released into water, which deteriorates water quality and often also impairs the efficiency of treatment processes (Pivokonsky et al., 2016). This study is focused on the improvement of coagulation of AOM produced by cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa (specifically its cellular peptides/proteins that contain toxic microcystin) by pre-oxidation with potassium permanganate.
