A presence of ionic liquid (quarternary ammonium salt) has a potential for an easy separation of this catalyst via its pseudo-immobilization. The reaction has been successfully carried out in such an arrangement with a very high conversion of MAA (above 97%) also reaching a very high enantioselectivity (above 99%) towards the (R)-(+)-methyl-3-hydroxybutanoate isomer.
