    AnnotationWe investigated sub-wavelength and leaky-mode resonant gratings made on fibre facets.
    These gratings are used as polarization dependent low and high modal reflectance mirrors,
    respectively. Modal reflectances of about 95% and polarization extinction ratios of
    about 18 dB can be achieved in leaky-mode resonance gratings. Influence of grating
    fabrication imperfections on modal reflectance is discussed
