AnnotationThis chapter investigates and discusses long-term negative consequences of coal energy production on the regional level in terms of the resource curse and environmental injustice theories using an example of the Most region in the Czech Republic. Coal mining regions are characterized by worse health and quality of life of local population. People in coal affected regions are mostly in opposition to the expansion of coal mines and they support renewable energies. Coal mining regions have a higher rate of implementation of wind energy.
