The subject of the protection is a method of modifying surfaces used as substrates for desorption-ionization mass spectrometry. The method according to the present invention is based on electronebulization (electrospraying) of a solution of organometallic compounds of the group 4B elements, and namely zirconium, hafnium and titanium. The charged elecrospray thus obtained is dried in real time by passage through a heated space and impinges onto a surface to which it fixedly binds in the form of oxide.; The surface modified in such a manner can then be used for preconcentration of phosphorylated peptides from peptide mixtures with subsequent analysis using desorption-ionization mass spectrometry.
