At the beginning of the cell analysis there is a need for creation of suitable transport vessels - droplets - that can be easily counted, sorted and serve for manipulation of cells with preserved biocompability as well. Among all of bioanalytical approaches droplet-based microfluidics proved its potential for producing droplets with precisely controlled size, shape as well as for encapsulation of reactants and delivering drugs. This study presents a simple microfluidic chip with flow-focusing geometry for generation of water droplets in fluorocarbon oil.
