Annotation
Description in English
Maintaining the integrity of the genome is essential for cell survival, good preservation and transfer of genetic information. The disruption of the genome results in arrest of cell proliferation, apoptosis and possibly tumorigenesis. The cell has different mechanisms of DNA repair and signaling pathways in response to DNA damage. This signaling pathway is called DNA Damage Response (DDR). It has been reported that the mutated huntingtin causes DNA damage, interacts with certain remedies and signaling proteins. However, an accurate description of its effect on the DDR signaling and DNA repair is not clear, since recent publications contain contradictory results.
