V šesti kapitolách jsou postupně rozpracována témata vlastní materiálové analýzy, interpretace malířské techniky, praktických aplikací metod průzkumu a současných směrů vědeckého výzkumu. Monografie nepřináší výčet analytických metod, ale je spíše metodickým návodem, jak postupovat při materiálové analýze obrazů. Obecný text je doplněn četnými ukázkami z praxe. Description in English Materials and their way of usage (technique) contain information about the author, workshop as well as time and place of the creation of the work of art. Such information should not be omitted either during restoration/conservation, or during art-historic research; that is why this book deals with the material analysis of fine art. In six chapters the topics of material analysis, painting technique interpretation, practical applications of methods and current directions in research are successively elaborated. The monograph does not provide a list of analytical methods, but rather a methodological guidance on how to proceed with material analysis of paintings.
