AnnotationHigh-sensitive methods allowing detection and identification of biologically important analytes are currently requested for the majority of applications in biology, medicine and related branches of science. The remarkable progress of new spectroscopic methods enabled especially by improvements in construction of light detectors and light sources in the last three decades. The presented work submits an overview of highly sensitive spectroscopic methods with emphasis on surface-enhanced Raman spectrometry and various luminescence methods. The analytical applications are presented as detection methods of capillary electrophoresis, imaging methods and single cell analysis. The optimization of surface enhanced Raman spectrometry, laser or LED induced fluorescence, time-resolved photoluminescence, total-internal reflection photoluminescence and chemiluminescence for high sensitivity and selectivity bioanalyses is demonstrated.
