Kapitola se zabývá přínosem díla V. Knappa O možnostech použití vědeckých metod v právu, které má zakladatelský význam pro obor právní informatiky. Dále sleduje vývoj a koncepci právní informatiky od 60. do 80. let dvacátého století a stanovuje cíle a metody, které může používat právní informatika.

In this chapter the author investigates the contribution of Knapp’s work titled On the application of scientific methods in law, which laid the foundation for legal informatics. He further follows the development of legal informatics from 1960s until 1980s and defines the aims and methods that may be applied within legal informatics.
