AnnotationFirst studies dealing with diffraction processes published by the ATLAS collaboration are discussed. Two analyses are reviewed, both relying on data from proton-proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV from a part of data taking in 2010 where the effect of pile-up background was negligible. One analysis reports on a measurement of the rapidity gap distribution compared with diffractive and hadronization models, the second on the measurement of the total inelastic cross section.
