AnnotationA high temperature creep of engineering materials has long been a subject of an increased concern of researches and scientists. Unlike high temperature creep almost no regard has been taken of room temperature creep. It is so because strains in room temperature creep are very low and failure due to room temperature is unlikely. However, in some engineering applications creep properties of steel at normal temperatures appear to be important, e.g. in pressure reparation of long time operated gas pipelines or in any pressure tests of gas pipelines connected with experimantal proof of their tightness. The point is then to distinguish between the natural decrease of gas pressure in a pressurized linepipe due to creep and gas pressure decrease due to untightness.
