AnnotationNew interpretation of the mysterious scenes in the margins of the Bible of Wenceslas IV which have long been the subject of dispute is based on analysis of image-text relation. "Pictorial glosses", relating to contemporary events, refer to various aspects of government and salvation. They present Wenceslas as the lawful King of the Romans and of Bohemia by the will of God, the heir of Charles IV, who can lay claim to the crown of the Roman Emperor.
