During spraying, the inflight particle temperature and velocity were measured. Deposition, thermal and residual stresses were determined by in-situ curvature monitoring of the sprayed samples. Young's moduli and hardness of the coatings were determined by instrumented indentation. The relationship between spraying parameters, in-flight particle characteristics and mechanical properties is discussed.
