Description in EnglishThe study deals with literary conceptualization of the post-White Mountain exile in the Czech society in the 19th century. Czech literature of this period is characterized by its strong territoriality, i.e. by its linkage to the territory of the historic Czech lands. The boundaries of this area were also boundaries of the literary narratives. These raises the question, what strategies were used for staging of the phenomenon of the post-White Mountain exile, which was in the 19th century promoted as one of the central moments of the Czech national history. First the study explains these spatial aspects of the 19th-century Czech literature and shows what consequences they had for representability of the exile. The second part analyzes the strategies that Czech literature developed to overcome these limits, and distinguishes three main discursive situation within which was the theme of exile narrative representable without leaving the Czech territory.
