AnnotationThere are several methods for caspase detection in tissue sections and individual cells. However, quantification lags behind qualitative evaluation of active caspases. Therefore, first we aimed to develop/modify a precise technique for active caspase measurement, and second to apply the procedure to express amount of active caspase per cell in cell populations. Further, we improved the method for single cell analysis. As one of model systems, stem cells (neural crest derived) were selected and challenged by camptothecin, a cytotoxic alkaloid used as natural anticancer drug.
