AnnotationTALENS are engineered nucleases used for targeted gene disruptions in various organisms. We examined the potential of using full length TALENs for site-specific mutagenesis in silkworm. Three full-length TALEN pairs were synthesized by Golden gate assembly, used for activity examination in heterologous yeast system and finally for mutagenesis in Bombyx mori germline. All TALENs were able to generate somatic and germline mutations in silkworms albeit at low frequency.
