Zaměřuje se na metafory hranice, ostrova a křižovatky a snaží se ukázat, jak tyto metafory korespondovaly s dobovou teritorializací myšlení a predilekcí ke geografické evidenci na straně jedné a s paralelní nacionalizací společnosti na straně druhé. V tomto kontextu nabízí studie hypotézu, že metafory hranice a ostrova sloužily ke kognitivní organizaci prostoru, resp. k implicitně národnostní organizaci jeho etnické heterogenity. Description in English Basing on the cognitive theory of metaphor the paper analyses spatial metaphoric used for town in the end of the 19th and in the beginning of the 20th century in the Czech lands, event. in the Central Europe. It focuses the metaphors like "frontier", "island", or "crossroad" and tries to show, how these metaphors had corresponded both with the territorializing of the though and with the predilection for the geographic evidence on the one hand and with the nationalization of the society on the other hand. In this context offers the study the hypothesis that these metaphors have served for the cognitive organisation of the social space, or more precisely.
