AnnotationThe chapter 2 covers normal structure and function of microtubules cytoskeleton. Authors focus in deeper details the regulation of microtubules nucleation and their dynamics. At the beginning there is structural description of key microtubular components that follow through basic principals of microtubule dynamics also description of tubulin isotypes. In next part, there is exhaustive view into mechanisms of microtubule nucleation by γ-tubulin a post-translational modification of the most important members of tubulin superfamily. The last part of the chapter represents large inside to microtubule-regulatory proteins that include group of microtubule associated proteins, severing proteins, disassembly and assembly promoters and plus-end tracking proteins. This chapter forms an integral part of the book.
