In this report, transgenic embryogenic callus was obtained after transformation of somatic embryos of Norway spruce (Picea abies) by Agrobacterium tumefaciens with the gus-intron chimeric gene. The stable integration of transgenes was confirmed by PCR and Southern hybridization. The transformation was successful only with suitable embryogenic line sensitive to Agrobacterium. From nine embryogenic lines tested only one gave transgenic callus Workplace Biology Centre (since 2006) Contact Dana Hypšová, eje@eje.cz, Tel.: 387 775 214 Year of Publishing 2012
