Publikace sleduje politické názory T. G. Masaryka mezi 90. léty 19. století a 1918. Zahrnuje jeho kritiku nedostatečně demokratických přístupů říšské vlády v marných pokusech řešit hluboké sociální, ekonomické a národnostní problémy habsburské říše, jeho kritiku české politiky i jeho názory a koncepty hledající realistické prostředky a cíle k nápravě celkových podmínek říše. Koncept demokratizace je v centru jeho úvah. Jeho hlavní zájem byl soustředěn na politické vzdělávání a morální úroveň českého národa jako nejspolehlivější prostředek k dosažení legitimních cílů, včetně rovnoprávnosti s německou menšinou v českých zemích.

The publication focuses on political views of T. G. Masaryk between the 1890s and 1918. It includes his criticism of imperial government’s insufficient democratic approaches in futile attempts to solve deep social, economic and national problems of the Habsburk Empire, his criticism of Czech politics as well as his ideas, and concepts aiming at finding realistic means and goals for improving the overall conditions. The concept of democratization is at the centre of his reasoning. He was particularly concerned with the political education and moral level of the Czech nation as the most reliable means to achieve its legitimate aims, including equality with the German minority in Czech Lands.
