    AnnotationObsah studie tvoří téma historických motivů uplatněných při umělecké výzdobě Německého domu v Brně, otevřeného v květnu 1891 zásluhou spolku Verein "Deutsches Haus". Samotná architektonická podoba budovy napodobující styl severoněmecké renesance symbolizovala přihlášení se brněnských Němců k spojenectví s vilémovským Německem. Vedení spolku se vědomě opíralo o historické tradice z doby předslovanské, popř. využívalo v té době oblíbené a módní motivy z germánské mytologie. Takto konstruovaný obraz historické paměti byl výlučně německý a pro české obyvatele Moravy v něm nebylo místo. Naopak měl umožňovat identifikaci všech příslušníků německého národního společenství s tímto obrazem.
    Description in EnglishThis study deals with the topic of historical motifs employed in the artistic decor of the German House in Brno, which opened in May 1891 thanks to the Verein "Deutsches Haus" Association. The architectural outlook of the building itself, which copied the German Nothern Renaissance style, symbolized the declaration of allegiance by Brno Germans to Wilhelminian Germany. The Association's leadership intentionally looked back to historical traditions from the pre-Slavonic period; they, for example, made use of motifs from Germanic mythology, which were popular and in vogue. The image of historical memory, thus construed, was exclusively German and there was no place in it for the Czech inhabitants of Moravia.
