AnnotationThe production of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) during development (starting from day 21 after conception up to adulthood) of the rat heart was studied. H2O2, that modifies elastin, is produced by lysyl oxidase since day 4 up to day 15 only extracellularly, later on even intracellular production was observed. The specific inhibitor of lysyl oxadase abolished production of H2O2
