Praktická ochrana proti obecné strupovitosti je zaměřena na úpravu faktorů prostředí a využití vlastností odrůd. Šlechtění brambor zahrnuje pouze popis náchylnosti novošlechtění k této chorobě. Omezení napadení hlíz brambor je v současné době velmi aktuální, neboť choroba významným způsobem ovlivňuje tržní uplatnění brambor. Dosud ojedinělý komplexní přístup k problematice obecné strupovitosti umožnil nalézt nebo lépe definovat několik markerů pro testování náchylnosti novošlechtění brambor ke strupovitosti (poměr Ca/P, obsah polyfenolových látek a aktivita antioxidativního obranného systému v peridermu hlízy). Description in English Common scab of potato is an infectious disease that does not decrease yields, but does decrease the quality of fresh market potato tubers. Cultivars differ in their susceptibility to infection by several Streptomyces species and no cultivar is totally resistant. Practical protection against common scab is focused on regulation of soil factors and using of cultivar characteristics. Potato breeding includes only description of new varieties to this disease. Hitherto sporadic complex research of the common scab enabled us to find or better define several markers for testing of new varieties regarding potato susceptibility to common scab (Ca/P ratio, content of polyphenolic compounds, capacity of antioxidative enzyme defensive system in potato tuber periderm).
