Annotation	Cílem studie je vysvětlit změny v účasti ve volbách do Poslanecké sněmovny v ČR mezi lety 1996 a 2010. Za použití valenční teorie volebního chování tento článek vysvětluje volební účast na základě očekávaných zisků z hlasování pro konkrétní stranu na základě programových a valenčních úvah. Výsledky prezentované v tomto článku demonstrují, že změna ve volební účasti mezi po sobě jdoucími volbami je důsledkem změny v míře očekávaných užitků z hlasování na agregované úrovni.
Description in English	The aim of this study is to explain why turnout in Czech general elections exhibited considerable variation between 1996 and 2010. Using valence theory this article explores the differential turnout in terms of the expected benefits of voting for a party on the basis of valence and policy considerations. The results presented in the article demonstrate that change in voter turnout across general elections stems from the change in the expected benefits from voting aggregated at the level of the electorate.
