Henryk Sienkiewicz należy już od końca XIX wieku do najbardziej popularnych polskich pisarzy w Czechach. Artykuł śledzi ten fenomen w kontekście ówczesnych czesko-polskich kontaktów literackich i naukowych. Zarazem skupia uwagę na różnorodnych związkach tego pierwszego słowiańskiego laureata literackiej Nagrody Nobla ze środowiskiem czeskim.

Since the end of the 19th century, Henryk Sienkiewicz has been one of the most popular Polish writers in the Czech lands. This study traces his phenomenon in the context of the Czech-Polish cultural and scholarly relations of the period. At the same time it also maps out the various commitments of this first Slavic Nobel Prize winner for literature with a Czech setting.
