    AnnotationThe article reviews current state of knowledge about the modulation of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors by neurosteroids. Special attention is paid to the molecular mechanism of neurosterid action at N-methyl-D-aspartate and gamma-aminobutyric acid receptors. Furthermore, the effects of neurosteroids in animal models of human diseases are summarized
