Z předchozích období známe nečetné doklady sídlišť a tábořišť, jejich charakter je ale spíše sezónní. Strukturu domu nelze omezit jen na architekturu a její formální znaky, ale je třeba ho uchopit v širších souvislostech spojených s jeho provozem a aktivitami, s jeho sociálním a symbolickým významem. Neolitický dům lze chápat jako prostředek a součást neolitizačního procesu i symbolické domestikace celé tehdejší society. Je zde poukázáno i na nevšední podobnost neolitických domů středoevropského prostoru s megalitickými hrobkami při atlantickém pobřeží. Řada badatelů se shoduje, že jde o přenos ideje původního domu a její pokračování v jiném kontextu. Dům svou prostorovou lokalizací, formální podobou i kontextem artefaktů propojuje jinak obtížně strukturovatelnou neolitickou společnost a stává se tak klíčem k porozumění neolitu a jeho nositelů. Description in English The house appears in the Neolithic in connection with the change in the lifestyle of the agricultural population. There is not much evidence of camps from previous periods. The structure of a home can't be limited to the actual architecture and its formal features; it is necessary to understand it in broader contexts, i.e. with its social and symbolic meaning. The Neolithic house can be understood as a means and component of the Neolithisation process and symbolic domestication of the whole society. It is necessary to point out the remarkable similarity between Neolithic houses and the megalithic tombs along the Atlantic coast. The researchers agree that this represents a transfer of the idea of the original house and its continuation in a different context. With its spatial localisation, formal shape and even the context of artefacts, the house connects Neolithic society, which is otherwise difficult to structure, and thus becomes a key to understanding the Neolithic and its people.
