    AnnotationWe studied local metabolism of glucocorticoids in connection with metabolic syndrome. Local metabolism of glucocorticoids is represented by 11beta-HSD1. 11beta-HSD1 activity is altered in selected tissues of HHTg rats. These changes are tissue- and gender- specific. The relationship between hypertriglyceridemia and glucocorticoid action is complex
