Description in English In a view of authors of an article painter Karel Škréta was not only an artist, but could be designated as a "learned painter" - pictor doctus. In the text this is manifested especially on examples of Škréta´s portrait painted by Tiberio Tinelli, on Škréta´s use of Ripa´s Iconology and on compositions from the cycle depicting the life of St. Wenceslas from the cloister of Barefoot Augustinians on Zderaz in Prague. Enclosed to the article there is a list of the books from the library of Škréta´s son, which included also books owned by a painter himself.
