| Annotation | V příspěvku se autorka zabývá chronologickým a teritoriálním vývojem světové a československé, dnes české a slovenské, byzantologie od jejích počátků až do současnosti. Článek je rozdělen do dvou částí, v nichž zkoumá a popisuje naše znalosti o byzantské říši během staletí na poli politické, sociální a ekonomické historie, filologie (lingvistika a literatura), filozofie a teologie, dějin umění, architektury, archeologie a byzantsko-slovanských vztahů.

| Description in English | In her contribution the author deals with the chronological and territorial development of the world and Czechoslovak, today Czech and Slovak, Byzantine studies from its origin until now. The article is divided into two chapiters, in which she separately monitors and describes our knowledge of the Byzantine Empire through the ages in the field of political, social and economic history, philology (linguistics and literature), philosophy and theology, history of arts, architecture, archaeology, and the relations between Byzantium and Slavs.
