AnnotationThe work deals with numerical modelling of incompressible turbulent flow over 2D backward-facing step. Mathematical model is based on Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations with linear and non-linear two-equation turbulence models for Reynolds stress and three turbulence models of increasing complexity for turbulent heat transfer. Finite volume and finite element methods are considered and performance of finite volume approach improved by approximating do-nothing condition present in the finite element method. The results are compared with experimental data, indicating that velocity field prediction has sufficient accuracy whereas the considered models of heat transfer in the recirculation zone do not provide acceptable results.
