Load controlled cycling with tensile mean stress was used. The experimental results showed that small cyclic stress component superimposed on the mean stress does not reduce the lifetime when compared to the pure creep life. The time to fracture increases with increasing stress amplitude; the reverse of this trend is related to the change of damage mode from ductile to fatigue dominated.
