The study group consisted of 175 children aged 6-15 years (81 with asthma, 94 healthy controls; 15 children were active smokers) from Ostrava, Czech Republic. The frequency of MN/1000 BNC, measured by automated image analysis, indicated a significant risk of DNA damage for smoking children with asthma in comparison with smoking control children.
