AnnotationThree novel photochromic azobenzene-containing comb-shaped polyacrylates were synthesized and their phase behaviour and photooptical properties were studied. An influence of the side photochromic group structure, thermal treatment and light irradiation on aggregation azobenzene chromophores in thin spin-coated films of the polymers was investigated in detail. A special attention was paid to study the photoorientation processes in polymers films induced by polarized blue light (473 nm). The relationship between photochromic group architecture, phase behaviour, thermal treatment of films and kinetics of chromophore photoorientation was established and discussed. It was found, that position of the N=N bond in chromophores plays important role in kinetics of the process, but does not affect the maximum value of dichroism.
