AnnotationIn the theoretical analysis of high energy elastic nucleon scattering one starts commonly from the description based on the validity of the optical theorem, which allows to derive the value of the total cross section directlt from the experimentally observed t dependence of the elastic differential cross section. It may be shown, that this theorem has been derived on the basis of the assumption that might be regarded perhas as acceptable in the case of long-range forces but must be denoted as quiote unacceptable in the case of finite range hadron forces.
