AnnotationThe Mediterranean linden bug Oxycarenus lavaterae, invading recently central European countries, was found in Bulgaria for the rst time in 1998. Seeds of the lime tree Tilia cordata, of Hibiscus syriacus and of the sun ower Helianthus annuus enabled completion of the whole life cycle. The developmental time from eggs to adults lasted 30-31 days at 25C and survival was over 50% on these seeds. Broken seeds from the lime trees T. tomentosa, T. platyphyllos and winter wheat were less suitable food, whole seeds of T. tomentosa, T. platyphyllos and wheat were unsuitable. Fecundity of females reared on seeds of H. syriacus and T. cordata was 189 eggs and 230 eggs, respectively.
