Description in English The article acquaints readers with one half of the Nobel Prize in Physics awarded to Prof. C.K. Kao for 2009 for pioneer work, which led to the optical communication with dielectric fibres. Beside of the research work of Prize winner the larger part of the article is devoted to the scientific background of awarding.
