Description in English An introductory essay analyzes the work of Ivan Kolecek, Czech born architect working mainly in Switzerland. His architecture – both new structures and renovations of historic buildings – is characterized by the complexity interconnecting the respect to older or local context with the innovative approach. Stressed is also the multilayered experience of Ivan Kolecek as practitioner as well as theoretician and teacher and also his successful career both at home and in the Swiss exile.
