Description in English The essay examines the badge of the Order of the Dragon from Pisanello´s portrait of Emperor Sigismund of Luxemburg (Louvre) considering reports of Jacopo di Poggio Bracciolini (1412 - 1478) and Domenico Mellini (c.1540 - 1610). They don´t describe the jewel as an dragon but as a serpent biting his tail (uroboros).
