    AnnotationThe beneficial effect of probiotic Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 suggests the gut epithelium plays a basic role in immune interactions with bacteria. This microbe has protection effect against pathogenic enterobacteria. Such an effect is important in the light of growing number of systemic enteric infections with enterobacteria connected with acquired immune deficiencies that paralyze gut immunity in humans
