The aim of this chapter is to provide a simple, practical guide to the use of chlorophyll fluorescence for microalgal biotechnologists who wish to apply this technique in microalgal mass cultures, both in field and laboratory studies. Whilst the principles behind the measurements will be mentioned briefly, the emphasis will be given to the applications and limitations of this technique for monitoring in situ and its implications Workplace Institute of Microbiology Contact Eliška Spurná, eliska.spurna@biomed.cas.cz, Tel.: 241 062 231 Year of Publishing 2011
